Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Dinajpur Wahida Khanam, who was seriously injured in the hammer attack, is receiving treatment at the National Neuroscience Institute and Hospital in the capital. Waheeda Khanam underwent a successful head surgery Thursday night. However, the doctor said his condition is not improving now.
Professor at the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital. Zahid Hossain told NTV Online on Friday morning: ‘UNO’s operation ended around 12pm on Thursday night. His knowledge has also returned. She also spoke to her husband this Friday morning. This is the positive side. But now I don’t want to say that her condition is improving.
Dr. Zahid Hossain further said: “A total of nine houses were hit on the head. A very serious one. A bone in the skull broke and entered. The operation was performed mainly for that bone. We remove the bone. I would like to say in a moment if your condition is improving or not.
A group of criminals entered UNO Wahida Khanam’s official residence via a staircase at around 2:30 pm on Wednesday. They broke the fan in the house and entered the house and started beating Wahida Khanam with a hammer. When her father, who was in the next room, heard UNO’s screams and tried to save her, the malefactors also wounded her. Later, other residents of the neighborhood heard her screams and reported to the police. They were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital with serious injuries. Later, when the situation deteriorated, Wahida Khanam was transferred to Dhaka. Her father is in treatment in Rangpur.
After being transferred to the National Institute of Neurosciences and the Capital Hospital, Wahida Khanam’s surgery began there around 9pm on Thursday. After two and a half hours, the complex surgery was completed.
It is known that her father, the freedom fighter, Omar Ali Sheikh, used to visit his daughter Wahida Khanam from Naogaon from time to time. Wahida Khanam’s husband works as ONE in Pirganj, Rangpur.
