Some of the support staff at the Sher-e-Bangla cricket stadium in Mirpur have shown symptoms of coronavirus. In this situation, the ongoing private practice of cricketers in Dhaka has been stopped for three days. The exercise start time will be reported after observing the situation.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed the news to The Daily Star.
Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyadh and several other top cricketers in the country were coming to Mirpur to practice according to the schedule set by the BCB. However, Nizamuddin said this practice should be stopped for now due to the danger. So we decided that what we really had to do was learn to do it well. Some people have symptoms, so we have stopped this practice for a few days.
The CEO said that at the beginning of personal practice, there were strict rules on hygiene. But after a few days it is no longer visible. The BCB wants to guarantee strict hygiene by stopping the practice. “In the beginning, hygiene was strictly followed. But recently we have seen some laxity. We want to ensure maximum vigilance before going to Sri Lanka.
“We are also sharing experiences with other boards. Adhering to the coronavirus protection protocol is not an easy task.
Besides Mirpur, cricketers are practicing in Sylhet, Chittagong, Khulna, and Rajshahi. Since there is no problem, those exercises will continue.
The Bangladesh team is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka for a series of three tests later this month. Going there, the series of tests will start from October 24 following certain health rules.
