‘UNO Waheed’s right body is paralyzed’

Doctors said the right part of the body of Wahida Khanam, an officer of Upazila Nirbahi (UNO) from Ghoraghat in Dinajpur, who was injured in the attack, was paralyzed.

Deputy Director of the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, Professor. Badrul Haque told The Daily Star at night: ‘UNO’s injury is very serious. The bones of the skull have been broken and entered the brain. There has been bleeding in the brain. The right part of his body has become paralyzed.

Speaking about Waheed’s latest condition, he said: “There was bleeding inside and outside of his head. The situation was more serious when we found him. The necessary saline solution could not be given. He has been given saline solution in his throat. His condition is critical. Under no circumstances can it be called safe. In the case of these patients, nothing can be said for sure until 72 hours or 96 hours have passed. You always have to be prepared for any situation.

“The specialist doctors in our hospital are dedicated to treatment. Apart from this, all the eminent experts in this field in Bangladesh are seeing him in the hospital. BSMMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Kanak Kanti Barua, Dhaka Professor of Medicine. Raziul Haque is still in the hospital. We will take you back to the operating room at 9:00 p.m. Then the doctors will decide whether to operate or not. But nothing can be said beforehand.

Last night, a group of criminals entered Wahida Khanam’s official residence and hit her on the head with a sharp weapon. In critical condition, he was admitted to the ICU of a clinic in Rangpur. According to ISPR, when the situation deteriorated, Waheeda was flown to Dhaka in an MI-161 SH helicopter from the Bangladesh Air Force on an urgent basis today.

Earlier, Ghoraghat police told The Daily Star: When UNO found out, he was hit on the head with a sharp weapon.

Waheeda was rescued with blood in the morning and was admitted for the first time to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. He was later taken to the Rangpur Community Hospital.

Upon receiving the news, senior police officials, including Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Mahmudul Alam and Police Superintendent Anwar Hossain, came to the scene in the morning.
