A court dismissed a case brought against BNP President Khaleda Zia as a supporter of a grenade attack at an Awami League rally on August 21, 2004.
The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder on Thursday afternoon.
The plaintiff in the case, AB Siddiqui, Bangladeshi President Jannetri Parishad, confirmed the matter to NTV Online. He said: “After presenting the case this morning, the judge took a statement pursuant to Section 200 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Then he dismissed the case in the afternoon.
In the RG of the case, AB Siddiqui said: “The then Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was the mastermind and mastermind behind the assassination of the then opposition leader, Awami League President Bangabandhu Kanya Sheikh Hasina, at the public meeting of the Awami League on August 21, 2004. According to a statement from Mufti Hannan, who was sentenced to death, the cat came out of the bag.
The RG in the case said: ‘Khaleda Zia had planned it. The way Major Ziaur Rahman wanted to perpetuate state power by murdering Bangabandhu from behind, but he was not accused of killing Bangabandhu. Khaleda Zia followed her husband and wanted to perpetuate his power by killing the top leaders of the Bangabandhu family, including Sheikh Hasina, with the help of the militant group Mufti Hannan.
According to the RG in the case, before August 21, 2004, Tareq Rahman, former Minister of State for the Lutfuzzaman Babar home, militant chief Mufti Hannan, DGFI director, Major General Rezakul Haider Chowdhury, the brigade chief of the NSI Abdur Rahim, Chief of Police Ashraful Huda, Khaleda Zia’s Chowdhury, Deputy Minister of Information Abdus Salam Pintu, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid held a secret meeting with all heads of administration. At that meeting, it was decided how to succeed by killing everyone in the Awami League, including Sheikh Hasina, like the August 21 assassination.
According to the plaintiff in the case, when Sheikh Hasina began his speech, grenades were thrown like rain. With the explosion of the grenade, the top leaders of the Awami League hid Sheikh Hasina and saved her life and when they put her in the car, they still shot her in the car. Being a bulletproof car, it survived by the grace of God. But 24 leaders and activists, including Ivy Rahman, wife of the late President Zillur Rahman, were killed on the spot by the grenade. More than 300 leaders and activists were injured.
‘হত Injured leaders and activists went to hospital for treatment. However, they were not admitted. They were not allowed in with the administration people and Bangabandhu Medical (PG Hospital) was closed. When Khaleda Zia learned that Sheikh Hasina was not dead, she instructed people in the administration to quickly destroy the signs and take the necessary measures so that she could not be blamed. She publicly told the media that the incident was a tragedy, an accident. The necessary steps will be taken in this regard. But without taking the necessary steps, Judge Mia created a drama and buried the proper judgment. The murder took place on the orders of Khaleda Zia.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, MP Sheikh Selim, Sheikh Helal and Haji Mohammad have been witnesses in the case. For Mahbub Abdullah.
