The justice minister said a decision would soon be made to extend the release of BNP president Khaleda Zia. A request was submitted to the Interior Ministry on August 25 to extend his release from the family.
The request reached the Interior Ministry from the Interior Ministry on Wednesday.
Justice Minister Anisul Haque told Jugantar that she received the request letter this afternoon. “I got the letter today (Wednesday) at noon,” he said. We will sit down and decide this soon.
Earlier on Monday, the law minister told reporters that the decision would be made after analyzing what was written in the request for an extension of the temporary release and considering his health. The Interior Minister told me that he had received a request. Since the six-month period (Khaleda Zia’s temporary release period) expires on September 24, they have requested an extension.
The justice minister said Khaleda Zia was not on bail and no court had granted it. Last March, his family appealed to the interior minister to release him from prison with an executive order for medical treatment. The Prime Minister, for humanitarian reasons, ordered us to suspend her sentence under Section 401 (1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure and release her for six months, and she (Khaleda Zia) was released on March 25.
Former Interior Minister Khaleda Zia, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison in two corruption cases, was temporarily released by the Interior Ministry. The six-month launch period ends on September 24. Previously, the family had requested an extension.
Khaleda Zia is currently in her rented house ‘Firoza’ in Gulshan. She suffers from various problems of old age, such as arthritis, diabetes, and eye problems.
Khaleda Zia began her incarceration on February 8, 2016 after being convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case. He was later convicted in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. In addition, there are 34 more cases against him.
