Jessore: The body of a farmer named Rahmat Gazi (65) has been recovered from the head of a coconut tree in Abhaynagar de Jessore. On Wednesday afternoon (September 2), a firefighter team recovered the farmer’s body from a coconut tree at his home in the Upazila village of Bhangaget Laxmipur.
Rahmat Gazi’s wife, Rizia Begum, told Bangladesh that her husband climbed on a coconut tree in front of the house at noon. After climbing to the top of the tree, she dropped two coconuts. About half an hour later, she saw her husband sitting in a tree. When she got no response after shouting a lot, she informed the neighbors. Her husband worked both in agriculture and in coconut trees. When locals reported to the fire service, a rescue team was able to rescue the old man from the treetop in about 40 minutes.
Khan Ehsan Ul Alam, officer of the Nawapara Fire and Civil Defense Service Station, told banglanews that as soon as we got the news, we ran to the scene. With the help of team members, the elderly man was rescued unconscious and uninjured from the head of a coconut tree about 60 feet tall and was taken to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor in charge of the emergency department declared him dead.
Hafiza Nargis, a doctor at the Bagharpara Health Complex emergency department, told banglanews that the person rescued from the coconut tree died of a heart attack. He died before reaching the hospital.
