The College Scholarship Commission (UGC) has said that Teletalk’s internet bandwidth will be provided to college students at a nominal cost to enable online education.
The UGC said today in a press release that students from all the country’s universities that use the BDREN platform operated by the UDC will get the benefit. Currently, 42 government and 6 private universities in the country are using the BDREN platform.
Students will be able to participate in classes online through the Zoom application using the Teletalk network. Students will get this facility with just a 100 taka recharge per month. The reloaded money will be credited to the original account. This money can be spent on voice and data calls. Unused money will be added with the next top-up.
However, UGC said that this facility will not be available for less than Rs 100 recharge.
In this context, UGC President Prof. Kazi Shahidullah said that the initiative to continue online education activities for students at the university level in the Corona epidemic is very timely.
He thanked the Ministry of Education, the Department of Posts and Telecommunications, and Teletalk for responding to the initiative to provide Internet bandwidth at low cost.
