Md. Muzaffar Ali Hawlader (65) from Charkathi village of Gabkhan Dhansindri, union of Jhalokati Sadar upazila, died 20 years ago. After 20 long years, the surrounding area was washed away by the river, but the burial place of the late Md. Muzaffar Ali was standing in the water with his grave. When the relatives of the deceased dug the grave to deliver the grave, the sheet and the body were recovered intact, causing a great stir in the area. When the news spread Tuesday morning, thousands of people, including locals, flocked to the city to see the body for a moment.
According to locals and relatives, Md. Muzaffar Ali Hawlader, a resident of Charkathi village in Jhalokati Sadar Upazila, died in 2000 at the age of 65 due to his old age. After his death, members of his family buried him in the family cemetery, but due to the erosion of the river, the family members began to live in a new house in Baidarapur village.
The village of Charkathi at the mouth of the Sugandha-Bishkhali River began to gradually disappear into the riverbed. Although the area around the grave has been submerged in the river in recent days, the grave of the late Muzaffar Ali Hawladar remained intact in the water and his relatives took the initiative to move his grave Tuesday morning. When Muzaffar Ali Hawladar’s grave was dug at that time, his body and shroud were recovered unharmed. Later, when his family recovered his body and brought him home, the news spread. Only the corpse was a bit dry, but there was no decomposition or why there was no stench.
When the news spread through social media, people gathered at the house and people started coming to the house from afar to take a look. Later on Tuesday, after the Janazah of Asrabad prayers again, the family was buried in the new cemetery according to religious rites.
