A 15-year-old girl from the Deobhog area of the city disappeared on July 4. Her father filed a kidnapping case at the police station on August 8, a month after he couldn’t find her for a long time. On August 7-8, the police arrested Abdullah, a lover from the same area, Rakib, a motorist, and Khalil, a boatman, based on a list of calls on the girl’s mother’s mobile phone. . The three defendants testified in court on August 9 that they had confessed to raping and murdering the girl and throwing her body into the river. The defendants are currently in jail. Approximately 50 days after the incident, on August 23, after receiving information on a mobile phone, the girl was found alive in the Nabiganj area of Bandar Upazila and her parents reported to the Sadar police station at night.

Relatives claim that their daughter, who is mentally disabled, ran away and married another young man, Iqbal Hossain, and was living in a rented house. They no longer have charges against the accused and informed of the decision to withdraw from the case. Police Superintendent Zaidul Alam formed two committees to investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, the court did not grant bail to the two defendants in the case of the restitution of the dead girl alive. Narayanganj Senior Judge Kawsar Alam approved the order after a hearing on Monday. The court also rejected the request for preventive detention of the girl’s alleged husband, Iqbal.
