7 days of mourning in India for the death of Pranab Mukherjee

Dhaka: The Indian government has declared seven days of state mourning since Monday for the death of former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

Pranab Mukherjee breathed his last on Monday (Aug 31) around 6:15 pm.

He was 84 years old at the time of his death.

The veteran congressional leader was admitted to the Army Research and Reference Hospital in Delhi for approximately three weeks. He fell on August 9 and injured his head. He was admitted to the Army Research and Reference Hospital on August 10 due to a neurological problem. The operation was performed on his head the same day. He was already infected with the corona virus.

Pranab Mukherjee is the thirteenth president of India. Before becoming the country’s president in 2012, Pranab Mukherjee served as finance minister on several occasions. He has been Finance Minister to various governments since 1980. This exceptionally wise Bengali is respected throughout India. In August last year, he received India’s highest civil honor, the Bharat Ratna.

The death of Pranab Mukherjee has cast a shadow of mourning not only in the political arena but throughout India. Politicians from various quarters are mourning the disappearance of this popular politician as an irreparable loss for India. They are saddened by the loss of such a pure and patriotic politician.
