In another message of condolence, Deputy Minister of Education Nawfel said: “Pranab Mukherjee has played a leading role in the liberation war of Bangladesh. Bangladesh lost a genuine friend of the great politician of the subcontinent. “
Highlighting the role of Pranab Mukherjee during Bangladesh’s war of independence, Nawfel said that he took the initiative to discuss the issue of Bangladesh at Rajya Sabha.
“He said at the time that India should immediately recognize the Mujibnagar expatriate government in Bangladesh.”
Nawfel wished peace to the late soul of the late Pranab Mukherjee and expressed deep sorrow for the grieving members of the family.
