England took the lead in the three-game series by winning by 5 wickets in the second T20. The first game of the series was abandoned in the rain.
England reached the 196-run goal at Old Trafford on Sunday with five balls to spare. This is England’s biggest victory in pursuit against Pakistan.
Pakistan averaged 195 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the fifth over Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez. It surpassed its previous record of 183 against England.
Morgan, the hero of that game last year, made a difference again. The English captain led the team to victory with a couple of centuries with Malan. Morgan is the best of the game with 7 runs on 33 balls. Malan came back with an undefeated 54 of 36 balls to win the game.
After losing the toss, Babur drew the first ball of the match and sent it over the edge. At first, another starter, Fakhar Zaman, did the work of breathing at race speed. Pakistan made 51 runs without losing any windows in the power play courtesy of the two.
Adil Rashid broke the initial partnership of 72 52-ball runs. Long Ane was caught trying to repeat the ball after hitting the spinning leg on all six. The left-arm starter made 36 of 22 balls.
Hafeez got down to the crease and started to play shots. His pairing with Babar quickly froze. Rashid also broke this 40-run pair in 4 overs. Babur, who made 58 of 44 balls, was stopped with a catch in the middle of the wicket.
Following the departure of the Pakistan captain, Hafeez attacked the bowlers and led the team to 200 runs. Boundary accounts for all the large straight units and pools.
The experienced first-order hitter hit 69 with 36 balls with four sixes and five fours. He hit the 2,000-race milestone in T20 as the second Pakistani to play a grand inning.
Johnny Bairstow and Tom Banton gave England a good start by chasing great careers. Bairstow made a storm in the first over of the previous game. In that game, go with Banton who made fifty. England made 85 runs without losing any ground in the power play.
Imad Wasim, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Amir could not take advantage of the first English. The starting pair from England also broke on the leg twist. Shadab fired the two starters.
He pitched in the seventh more and hit the second ball. Bairstow, who scored 44 on 24 balls with two sixes and four fours, converted Banton lbw.
However, the Pakistani bowlers were lost due to Ulto Morgan’s counterattack. Turn, pace, nothing could stop the captain of England. Malan, who provided him with great company, also attacked the bowlers at the end.
The pair of 112 72-ball runs somehow shaped the fate of the match. Morgan, running at an unstoppable pace, eventually came to a stop and was caught on the edge in an attempt to turn Harris Rauf into a six. He hit four sixes in his six-run innings with 33 balls.
Pakistan then quickly returned Moin Ali and Sam Billings. But the English didn’t have to read because of Malan. He pushed the team to the limit with the first ball of the last over.
Pakistan suffered an injury as Mohammad Amir was unable to throw more than two overs. Imad, Shaheen Afridi were lost.
The last T20 will be held in the same venue next Tuesday.
