An ojha named Shamim Hossain alias Kalthu (38) died after being bitten by a snake in Boda upazila of Panchagarh district. The incident took place at noon on Sunday (August 30) in the village of Bania Para in the Kajaldighi Kaliaganj junction of Boda upazila.
The president of the Kajaldighi Kaliaganj union, Alauddin Alal, confirmed the matter. The deceased was identified as Kalthu Ojha from the Petmani Hat area of the Kamat Kajaldighi union under Sadar upazila. He is the son of Abdur Rahim from the area.
The Alauddin president said that Shamim along with his three associates went to Shafiqul Islam’s home in the Baniapara area to catch gokhra snakes. At one point, the sorcerer and his associates caught the snake. Later, the snake jumped while closing its mouth on a sack. The snake bit Ojha Shamim on the chest and fell to the ground on the spot. Later, the owner of the house and the locals told him to take him to the hospital but his associates did not take him to the hospital. Associates said it would be improved by blowing the whistle.
