Police arrested four people in connection with the gang rape of a woman on her way home at night. Shortly after the incident (August 29), they were arrested in a raid last night.
The additional deputy commissioner (North Zone) of the city police, Ashikur Rahman, confirmed the information.
He said that preparations were under way to bring a case against the four detainees at the Bayazid Bostami police station.
The four arrested are Badsha Mia (38), Md. Jabed (26), Md. Robin (19) and Md. Ibrahim (30). Said the main culprit. Shafi is on the run.
Ashikur Rahman told the Bangla Tribune that the victim went to Wapda Gate from Raufabad with her husband on Saturday night. On their way from the area around 10:30 pm, when they arrived in front of the Alpana Club in Oxygen Junction, a Shafi arrested them and asked for their names and addresses. At this moment, they say suspicious things that are not husband and wife. At one point, Shafi, his friend Badshah, Ibrahim, Md. Reunited with the news from Jabed and Robin. The victim and her husband were then forcibly taken to the house of the man around 11:30 pm in a GNC and taken to the Shaheed Nagar area. They collected their CNG in the area until one thirty at night and began to move it. After that, around 1.30pm, the woman’s husband was caught in GNC and taken to the fifth room of Salma Colony in Madhyam Shaheed Nagar. Subsequently, 5 people took turns raping the woman.
He also said that a team from the Bayezid police station started the operation after receiving a complaint at 999 at around 2.30 pm. The night operation first rescued her husband along with the victim. Later, according to their identities, 4 people were detained. The four detainees confessed to having been gang raped. The main culprit, Shafi, remains at large.
