Interior Ministry investigative officer Pradeep, who was fired in connection with the murder of retired army major Sinha, has yet to meet with the investigation committee set up by the Interior Ministry. Therefore, the investigation committee has submitted an application for the third time. Mizanur Rahman, Chittagong Additional Divisional Commissioner, told reporters after a meeting of the investigation committee on Sunday (August 30) evening.
Mizanur Rahman said: ‘I was able to complete the investigation into Major Sinha’s death in time. OC Pradeep Kumar Das was also scheduled to be questioned on 19 August. But following the instructions of the Hon’ble Court, the investigating officer on the case placed him in his custody for questioning. Since then we have been trying to meet Pradeep. But it was not possible. We have informed the court about the matter twice. We also made a request on the 28th, the court registered it.
The investigating officer further said: “Our extended period will come to an end on August 31. Similarly, the interrogation of OC Pradeep is also coming to an end. So we have met and applied to the Ministry of the Interior for a longer time. If the Interior Ministry extends our time, we will meet with OC Pradeep on September 1st.
Earlier, an inquiry committee set up by the Home Office held an emergency meeting at the Hill Down Circuit House in Cox’s Bazar from Sunday morning until late afternoon.
