In a rueful tone, he told banglanews that the hilsa-filled season is on. Hilsa is being caught in flocks at Padma and Meghna. Therefore, Hilsa’s offer on the market has increased more than at any other time. But the price has not dropped. Hilsa harvesting will stop again from next October. So there will be plenty of hilsa fish on the market for another month.
But looking at the market situation, it does not seem that the price of hilsa will decrease this year. The price was the same as before, even in full season! On the contrary, now that a slightly larger thread size is available, the special price of the field is increasing. If you want to taste a hilsa fish that weighs one kg, you have to spend 1,200 rupees. And even if you are going to buy a hilsa fish that weighs the smallest (4.50 grams), it is not less than five hundred rupees. In this situation, even if everyone goes to the market, it is not possible to buy hilsa fish. 
Another buyer named Shafiqul Alam told banglanews that if the supply of hilsa increases, the price goes down. This is what usually happens. But this time everything seems to be an exception. Hilsa traders appear to have unionized and raised prices. That is why hilsa is sold at the same price in all markets.
There is no difference in the price of hilsa in the market. Those who flock to the wholesale and retail markets hoping for a slightly lower price are also frustrated by the price. Shafiqul Alam also said that general buyers have been very angry with buyers for the high price of hilsa.
Meanwhile, just like Hilsa Retail Market, visiting the Rajshahi New Market area on Saturday (Aug 29) morning, a different picture can be seen. Where hilsa is busy in the morning. There is less meeting of merchants and buyers. Hilsa Fish comes here by mini truck every day starting at 8 am. From here, fish traders buy hilsa at wholesale prices. After shouting at the auction, the highest bidder got the hilsa jump. From there it goes to various retail markets in the metropolis.
It can be seen that the hilsa weighing 4 to 450 grams is sold at Rs. 500 per kg, the hilsa weighing 500 to 800 grams is sold at Rs. Furthermore, large hilsa fish are sold at a maximum price of 1,800 to 2,000 Tk per kg. However, if you want to take oversized hilsa, you must go to this yard a day before and come with an order. 
Ali Hossain Ali, a retailer, told banglanews that now there is no price difference in the retail and wholesale markets. The price is almost the same. However, those who buy hilsa directly from the wholesale market will be able to mix small and large fish. If you take more fish, you will also get some big fish along with small fish. The retail market does not have that opportunity. Because they get the fish from here and classify the big fish according to their size and sell them at different prices. That is why the price of hilsa fish is determined by weight.
Jummon Ali, a fishmonger in the area of the sixth floor of the new Rajshahi market, told banglanews that despite the fact that fish was caught in Padma-Meghna, fishermen were not always able to go fishing due to inclement weather. So hilsa is not being captured exactly as claimed. That is why the price of the hilsa is higher in Mokame.
And it is not possible for anyone to bring the fish to Rajshahi in a mini truck and sell it at a lower price. Therefore, the price of hilsa in the wholesale and retail market is not that low, he said.
Fish trader Selim Hossain said the supply of hilsa has increased after Eid. Hilsa comes from Barisal in 3/4 mini trucks every day. But after the auction, some hands are after him. As a result, the price of fish is increasing from Rs 50 to Rs 100 per kg depending on weight, the trader said.
