Abdul Halim Babul, 55, a state witness in the Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee’s war criminal case, died of a stroke at Indurkani in Pirojpur.
He died at his home in the Nalbunia village of the Parerhat union in Indurkani upazila around 1pm on Thursday.
Babul’s brother Salam Bahadur Daily our time He said that Babul suddenly fell ill a few days ago. He was taken to the Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. The doctors said that his brain was bleeding. In that condition, it was not possible to treat him in the general ward of the hospital. They kept him in the accused’s room and gave him treatment.
He said he had a regular police force with him for security as he was a state witness. Therefore, it was not possible to provide general services. Even the police were unable to admit him to the private hospital for security reasons. They took him home last Wednesday.
Salam Bahadur complained that he contacted several neighborhoods in the state to obtain emergency services for Babul’s treatment, but did not obtain any benefits.
‘My brother Abdul Halim Babul died from lack of proper treatment. My brother had no enemies. His normal life has been interrupted due to the police hill. I couldn’t even receive any advanced treatment because of this security, ”said Salam Bahadur.
