RAB has arrested two people in a raid on a weapons factory on a hill on the Patia-Rangunia border in Chittagong. The raid took place on Thursday (May 14) in the Deba Hills of the local Baylor. A large amount of weapons-making equipment was recovered, including single-shot pistols and new cartridges.
RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Mahmudul Hasan Mamun confirmed this information.
The two arrested are- Rangunia resident Md. Rukn (38) and his associates in the same upazila. Abdul (32). Rukn is the leading manufacturer of weapons.
Mahmudul Hasan Mamun told the Bengali Tribune that the RAB found an arms factory under a dochala made of polyethylene and bamboo on the hill on the basis of secret information. Thereafter, the two were detained with four indigenous single-shot pistols, three new cartridges, 10 empty cartridges, and large equipment to make weapons. They are making weapons on remote hills and supplying them to Patia, Rangunia, Raozan, Fatikchhari and the surrounding areas. Legal measures are being taken against them.
