A press release signed by BRAC Executive Director Asif Saleh said that Aftab Uddin Ahmed died of a heart attack while undergoing treatment for a lung complication at CMH Hospital in the capital. Doctors said he was infected with the Kovid-19 virus. He was 72 years old.

Aftab Uddin Ahmed joined BRAC in October 2019. Before joining BRAC, he was Executive Director of the Bangladesh Center for Excellence in the Garment Industry (CEBAI). He has played many important roles in the successful career of Bangladesh Military Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME) for more than 26 years. He has been a strategic leader in creating public-private partnerships with UNICEF, International Labor Organization, IKEA, Save the Children International, Asian Development Bank, Plan International, World Bank, European Commission, Citibank NS and various government organizations in Bangladesh. . It gave. He has also served as a consultant on various skills development projects such as the World Bank and SwissContact. He was one of the key members of the National Advisory Committee formed in 2011 to formulate the National Skills Development Policy.

He has also made important contributions to the formulation of the National Education Policy, the Formal Education Policy, Education Reform and Technical and Vocational Training, Education Watch 2013 and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy. He has been instrumental in establishing and growing USEP Bangladesh. Everyone will remember with gratitude his contribution in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The statement said that Aftab was a kind, humble, and cheerful man. He was active from the start with all BRAC initiatives in dealing with Covid-19. The past few days he has been equally excited about everything despite not feeling completely physically healthy. He was a really good, honest, sincere and devoted man. He has worked tirelessly for the welfare of the country and people all his life.
