The Bangabazar market in the Gulistan area closed around 12 noon on Tuesday, said HM Azimul Haque, additional deputy commissioner (promoted to deputy commissioner) of the Ramna division.

He told bdnews24.com that the Bangabazar market has closed due to non-compliance with hygiene regulations.

Earlier Tuesday morning, two stores for local fashion brands Aranya and VIVE in Dhanmondi were closed, said Ramna Division Deputy Additional Commissioner Abdullah Kafi.

He told bdnews24.com that they had not built tunnels or sprinkler doors in the stores. Also, fixing the hand sanitizer didn’t seem to be enough.

“Store officials will be able to open if they follow proper hygiene rules.”

Previously, two markets, the ARA Center and the ADC Empire, closed on Sunday, but were allowed to reopen on Monday in accordance with health regulations, he said.

The government has allowed the store to open since the Sunday before Eid, after a month and a half of increasing the “general holiday” to curb the outbreak of the new coronavirus in the country. According to government instructions, the store can be kept open until 4 p.m., subject to certain security conditions.
