In the event of an incentive at a rate of two percent for the shipment of five thousand US dollars or five lakh rupees, no paperwork is required. At the same time, the obligation to present the documents required for shipping above Tk 5 lakh has been relaxed. The Bank of Bangladesh’s Currency Policy Division issued a directive on this on Tuesday (May 12).
Incidentally, before sending US $ 1,500 or 1.5 million lakh rupees in foreign currency it was said to be an incentive without a doubt. In addition, there was an obligation to submit the required shipping documents within 15 days to obtain the incentive.
The instructions sent to the banks’ MDs said that from now on, the incentive service will be applicable to remittances sent up to a maximum of five thousand dollars or up to five lakh rupees without any paperwork.
Bangladesh Bank further stated that in case of sending five thousand dollars or more than five lakh rupees for cash assistance, the recipient’s obligation to file within 15 business days has been relaxed and the deadline for submission of documents has been extended two months. This installation will remain in effect until December 31.
However, to obtain cash incentives for remittances above Rs 5 lakh, a copy of the passport and a copy of the appointment letter issued by the foreign employer must be sent to the remittance bank branch. If the person sending the consignment is in business, they must grant a business license.
