The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has banned 43 brands, including Danish salts, Suresh, Promi and Pubali. Surveillance operations were carried out on the open market and the products were purchased and tested in the BSTI laboratory and found to be non-compliant with the Bangladesh standard (BDS). At the same time, companies have been instructed to refrain from selling and distributing commercial advertisements to interested manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers, and retailers without re-approval, improving product quality, and removing products from the market. The BSTI has recently banned 18 more products for being of inferior quality.
