According to the government announcement, all markets and shopping malls in the city of Faridpur have been closed within two days of opening. The decision was made after an emergency meeting of business leaders at the Faridpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry building on Monday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the city’s Newmarket and other shopping malls had been flooded since Sunday. Markets and stores were closed for fear of creating a serious risk of corona infection.

After the market reopened on Monday, they went to New Market and Chawkbazar around 12 noon and saw that the market gate was under police surveillance. Business committee officials are instructing the handheld microphone to make purchases in accordance with the rules of social distance and hygiene of buyers. However, the crowd of shoppers in front of each alley and store could not be reduced. Most of the buyers are women. They also brought a little boy. Many did not maintain social distance. Police and administration, as well as members of the business committee, were seen fighting to cope with the crowd.

According to merchants, the majority of buyers who come to the market come from all over the world and towns. They are buying cheap saree, lungi, genji, shoes, sandals, and clothes. They have been unable to sell any of the high priced products in these two days.

Leaders of the Faridpur Chamber of Commerce (FCCI) also inspected the situation at the scene on Monday. FCCI director Nazmul Islam Khandaker Levy said: “It has been decided to open stores on one side of the market one day and the other. There are strict instructions not to bring more than one family member and not to bring children at all. However, none of the instructions we gave him are followed. ‘

In this regard, Faridpur traffic inspector Tuhin Laskar said: “The police and business leaders have announced on behalf of women and children not to come to the market, so that women and children do not come to the market” . But the opposite happens.

Siddiqur Rahman, president of the Faridpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “An emergency meeting of business leaders was held in the chamber building in the wake of the situation.” Business leaders agreed to close all markets and shopping centers starting Tuesday. The matter has been reported to the local administration.
