The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has banned 43 products from different brands. The list includes products of some well-known brands and some regional brands.
The BSTI said in a statement on Monday that the products were banned as they were purchased on the open market and tested in the laboratory and were found to be of low quality (BDS). At the same time, institutions have been notified to show the cause.
The BSTI further said that manufacturers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers should refrain from selling and distributing commercial advertisements without renewing the quality of the products. In addition, producers have to take the goods sold on the market.
According to a BSTI statement, the company collected 521 samples of various products to mark the holy month of Ramadan. Of these, 251 samples obtained in the first stage were examined and 16 of lower quality were found. That has already been banned. The remaining 260 samples were analyzed and 43 were found to be of inferior quality. It is aimed at recalling inferior quality products sold in batches / production dates / batches of these products.
