The Comilla court in Debidwar Upazila has given bail to Jahangir Alam, the famous president who beat teachers, women and children in the name of justice, just hours after his arrest.
Police arrested the president around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was later presented in court around 2.30 pm and the court released him on bail.
The investigating officer of the case and the Deputy Inspector of the Debidwar Police Station (SI) said. Iqtiyar has confirmed this information. He said that the president, who was named in two cases, was arrested in the New Market area of Upazila Sadar around 9:30 am after receiving information from a secret source. Later he was presented before the Comilla Superior Judicial Magistrate (Amli Court-4) around noon and the court granted him bail.
According to the statement of the two cases, on April 9, in the name of resolving the family dispute, the president called Azizur Rahman, a Betra Dakhil Madrasa teacher from the same union, at his home and beat him. The teacher filed a case against the president on April 18.
In another incident, the Ukhari village of the same union said. Waliullah’s son Sharif (10) and his wife Kajal Begum were called from their home and beaten by the president in the name of justice. Kajal Begum later filed a case against the President and his nephew Shamim on April 19. In these two cases, the President of Jahangir was in hiding for about three weeks.
In addition, a member of his union council named Nazrul Islam had filed a complaint against the president with Comilla’s deputy commissioner on April 20 alleging various irregularities and corruption in the name of justice. The allegations are being investigated by the deputy director of the local government department, sources with the district administration said.
Meanwhile, Maulana Azizur Rahman, a madrasa teacher who was tortured by the president and the plaintiff in the case, expressed his discontent and said: “Despite being charged in two cases, he (president) has continued the work of the advice”. The president, who is in hiding, will sit in the New Market area near the police station on Sunday morning. The police came and arrested him, they took him to court, they released him on bail, everything is mysterious. ‘
He also said he would file a written complaint with the Comilla Police Superintendent in the interest of justice.
