Former Minister of State for Energy, Energy and Mineral Resources, Major General (retired) Anwarul Talukder, of the coalition government led by BNP, died of coronavirus.

He died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at noon on Sunday (May 10). He was 6 years old at the time of his death.

Anwarul Kabir’s cousin, head of the pathology department at the National Institute for Cancer Research, confirmed to journalists. Md. Habibullah Talukdar.

He said Anwarul Kabir died at CMH Hospital at 2.25 p.m. Sunday. He had been in treatment for Kavid-19 for so long.

Anwarul Kabir was elected Member of Parliament for the Jamalpur-4 (Sarishabari) constituency in 2001 by the BNP nomination. He was the nephew of former BNP general secretary, lawyer Abdus Salam Talukder. At the 8th National Assembly, Anwarul Kabir initially served as Minister of State for Finance and Planning in the coalition government. Later he became the Minister of State for Energy, Energy and Mineral Resources. He then left the BNP and joined the Liberal Democratic Party (PLD).
