After the woman died in the Narayanganj hospital due to symptoms of the coronavirus, family members, including her husband, did not come to collect the body. Even the phone number listed on the hospital admission information form was found blocked after news of the death spread. As a result, the hospital authorities had problems with the body. Later, the Narayanganj City Corporation (Nasik) organized the burial under the supervision of the local councilman.
According to hospital sources, a woman named Lipi Akhter (23) died while receiving isolated treatment from the hospital’s crown unit on Saturday night (May 9). He was admitted to the 300-bed Narayanganj Hospital on April 29 with crown symptoms. On the same day, his sample was collected and sent to IEDCR for analysis, but no results were found. Meanwhile, he died the night of May 9. After his death, his samples were collected again and sent to the hospital laboratory for analysis. The news of his death was reported to his relatives, but they did not search for him. The full form has not been mentioned in the admission form, but only Chashara has been mentioned. Her husband’s name is mentioned as Fahim. However, no one came to the hospital for 24 hours. Even the number on the admission form is closed.
Said the hospital’s resident doctor. Samsuddoha Savings said: “We have tried to contact the relatives of the deceased but it was not possible due to an information error.”
Shawkat Hashem Shaku, councilor in ward 12 of Narayanganj City Corporation, said: “We got to know the death through the police on Sunday afternoon.” Nasik Mayor Dr. Selina Hayat later contacted Ivy and, according to his instructions, the body was taken by ambulance to Nashik and sent to the City Corporation Central Cemetery in Masdair. The burial has been arranged there.
Referring to the hospital authorities, he also said: “I have learned that the patient’s relatives have stopped communicating.” They have not come to the hospital to give food every day since the news of his death. Even the phone number that was on the admission form, when contacted, the patient’s relatives abused people from the hospital. The phone number has since been blocked.
The officer in charge of the Narayanganj Sadar OC Asaduzzaman police station said the body was buried. The patient’s relatives could not be found as there was no full address on the admission form. However, the matter is under investigation by the police.
