A housewife named Shahana Begum (55) confessed to killing 17 monkeys by mixing poison with food in Madaripur. He confessed to the incident during initial police questioning.
Shahana Begum is the wife of Latu Hawladar from the Khagdi area of Sadar upazila. She has two children. Police arrested him and his brother-in-law Aku Hawladar on Saturday night.
They were subsequently interrogated in police custody at the police station. Shahana Begum confessed to giving food poison. During the interrogation, Shahana Begum said that she killed the foolish animals by applying poison while being harassed at home. Aku Hawladar was released by the police because he was not involved in the incident. Shahana Begum was later sent to court on Sunday afternoon as a defendant in the Forest Conservation Law case.
In this regard, Madaripur Police Superintendent Badrul Alam Mollah said: “If a case is recorded at the Sadar Police Station in connection with the murder of a monkey, we will arrest two suspects.” Among them, a woman named Shahana Begum confessed to killing the monkey. He said he poisoned the monkeys with food. The monkeys died of poisoning. However, it was not possible to know what type of poison. It will be understood after receiving the autopsy report. The woman’s brother-in-law was released because he was not guilty.
On the afternoon of May 5, 18 monkeys died from poisoning in the Charmugaria area of Madaripur. Tapas Kumar Sen Gupta, Assistant Forest Conservation Assistant, Madaripur Forest Department, presented two separate cases under the Wildlife and Criminal Conservation and Security Act at the Madaripur Sadar Sadar Model Police Station accusing some unidentified persons of not applying its poison.
“The woman pleaded guilty,” Tapas Kumar said today. He added that three more monkeys were killed with poison three months ago. He has been sent to jail. I think the killers of these cool animals can be brought to justice.
