Dr. Monirul Sardar, a merchant, was arrested by police on Saturday (May 9) at the Khulna Road junction .
The detainee is the owner of the SM Drug House in front of the Monirul Sadar Hospital. Earlier on Friday (May 6) around 5 pm, the Dr. asked to change the medication that was given to a patient. Ghalib was hit by the grocer.
Dr. Ghalib said the nurse saw the prescription for a patient admitted to the hospital and sent the patient’s relatives to search for emergency medications. The patient’s relatives also returned to the room with the medicine. The nurse saw that the grocer had given him another medicine instead of one. The nurse asked me to change the medicine. If the patient’s relative returns to the store and does not change the medication, report the matter.
He added: “When I was informed of the incident, I sent him back to the store to change the medicine.” He returned and said that the merchant would not change the medicine and would not return the money. He does not have any money. Then I looked at the helpless man and, from a humanitarian point of view, I also went to the store with him and asked him to change the medicine. Then the merchant Monirul refused to change the medicine and said: I don’t have that medicine here. So I want my money back. Angered, he attacked me. I have informed the Civil Surgeon Sir about the incident and asked him to take action.
Satkhira Sadar (OC) police officer in charge Asaduzzaman said he had been arrested for assaulting a doctor at Sadar Hospital. No written complaint has been received yet. However, it is in process. Legal action will be taken against him as soon as the complaint is received.
