On April 29, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the emergency experimental use of the drug Remedaciv for the treatment of coronary heart disease. Within 10 days of the announcement, SKF Pharmaceuticals Limited, a Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company, produced the effective drug against Corona. After completing all production processes, supply preparation is underway.
Simin Hossain, managing director and chief executive officer of SKF, said that in the Corona situation, they wanted to give the good news to the country that they had completed all steps to produce the generic remedy, which is recognized as the only effective Corona drug in the world. Indian media Anandabazar reported this news.
Last week, the United States approved the use of the drug by Gilead Sciences, a US-based coronavirus treatment company. Then on May 8, Japan allowed the drug to be used in patients with coronavirus. However, Japan did not say when the drug would be manufactured in that country. Previously, SKF had developed the drug and brought it into the supply chain.
The company claims that SKFE is the first pharmaceutical company in the world that can produce generic remedies. SKF has given the brand name of this medicine as Remivir. They said that according to Bangladesh standards, the drug samples will be sent to the National Control Laboratory. They will begin distributing the medication after obtaining permission to bring it to market with authorization.
Remedaciv is given as an intravenous injection into a person infected with the coronavirus. Its dose depends on the disease. Doctors say that a critical illness may require a dose of five to 10 days.
Regarding the price of Remivir, Simin said, each dose will be around five to six thousand rupees. There are two doses of the drug ওষুধ five and 10 days. A 10 day dose can cost around Rs 55,000 and a five day dose can cost up to Rs 30,000.
