Special Parcel Express train launched between Panchagarh and Dhaka

The special Parcel Express train was launched between Panchagarh and Dhaka. Railways Minister Nurul Islam inaugurated the train by cutting the ribbon and waving the flag at the Sirajul Islam railway station in Panchagarh at 4pm on Saturday to facilitate the transportation of agricultural products and other goods produced by farmers in the Corona situation.

According to the railway authorities, from now on merchants will be able to take various goods, including agricultural products, to Dhaka on this special train. Five of the six bogies on the train can carry goods. The capacity of each bogie is 43 metric tons.

Although the freight rate was set at Tk 3.12 per kg, merchants were able to transport tomatoes and dried chilies free of charge on opening day.

This special train will run to Ruhia, Thakurgaon, Pirganj, Setabganj, Dinajpur, Chirirbandar, Parbatipur, Fulbari, Birampur, Joypurhat, Akkelpur, Santahar, Ahsanganj, Naldangarhat, Natore, Muladuli, Lahirimohanpur and Tejne.

During the inauguration, the Minister of Railways said that during an exchange of views in a video conference with officials and representatives of the people of the Rangpur Division administration on May 4, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged them to transport goods by rail from Panchagarh, as well as other areas.

In this continuity, this special freight train was launched from Panchagarh so that farmers in this area obtain a fair price for their products.

Mentioning that two more freight trains have been launched in the country since May 1 so that there is no shortage of daily necessities anywhere in the country, he urged merchants to transport all kinds of vegetables and other products on this train.

The minister also assured to reduce the cost of transporting goods by train.
