Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, son of the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, was arrested without charge in March and has since been held in an unknown prison without trial.
Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported on Saturday that Saudi Arabian authorities had detained one of the late King Abdullah’s sons since March and refused to reveal his whereabouts.
Citing a source close to the royal family, the New York-based human rights group said that Prince Faisal bin Abdullah may have been detained in an undisclosed location and that the authorities had illegally disappeared him.
Michael Page, deputy Middle East director at Human Rights Watch, said the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia was involved in the incident. Now we have to add Prince Faisal to the hundreds of people detained in Saudi Arabia without a clear legal basis.
According to HRW, he was detained by security forces on March 26 at the Prince Faisal compound, northeast of Riyadh. Where he was in self-isolation due to a coronavirus epidemic. He has been detained without charge.
Family members are in the dark about their current whereabouts. Prince Faisal has a heart condition and his family is particularly concerned about his health.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman was previously arrested in connection with an anti-corruption operation, Reuters reported. But in late 2016, he was released.
