Rubel Hossain felt a different tingling in his body when he saw the captain of India, Virat Kohli. He wants to get him out doing something extra, he even has a keen interest in going to Kohli’s face and making wild pranks. Rubel’s snake-neule relationship with Kohli started long before he reached international cricket!

On Friday night, ODI captain Tamim Iqbal added Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain to his Facebook series. That’s where Rubel’s warm relationship with Kohli comes out.

Tamim asks Rubel: “Why are you so upset when you see Kohli, where did this fight come from?”

Rubel said that he had known Kohli from a young age. In 2008, they both represented their respective countries in the U19 team. India and Bangladesh met in a three-nation series ahead of the World Youth Cup in South Africa. Rubel has disagreed with Kohli ever since, saying: “We have played the U-19 World Cup together. Since then there has been a little conflict with him. He used to do a lot of sledding then. Maybe a little less on the national team, but the under-19s were sledding a lot. There was a game in South Africa, in a tri-national tournament. He was sledding profusely, abusing the batter coming down. We all know how he was abusive.

The incident did not stop on innocent sleds. At one point, the two even jumped on each other: ‘Something very bad happened to him there. I scolded him after he got out. Then he held the bat upside down towards me. He gave me an insult. Then I walked towards him, he ran towards me. Whatever happens in those moments, the referees come and handle the matter. Since then I have a little conflict with him. Since then, I have spent a couple of days with him on the national team. It started from less than 19 years old.

Rubel had sacked Kohli wildly at a crucial moment in the 2015 World Cup quarterfinals. However, Bangladesh failed to win the match later.
