Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will not provide any services to landlords who evict their doctors, nurses, or health workers from their homes.
Atiqul Islam, mayor of the North City Corporation of Dhaka, said: “If the doctors, nurses who care for us are evicted from their homes, the city corporation will not provide any services to those owners.”
Mayor Atiqul Islam said this in an interview given on various contemporary issues, including the spread of the coronavirus and the increase in the number of dengue patients.
“I want to make it clear that we will not provide any kind of city corporation service to those who are evicting people,” said Mayor Atiqul Islam, noting that many people involved in emergency services, including doctors and nurses, have been evicted. Doctors, nurses, and workers who participate in relief activities, work in private companies, leave their homes to work, landlords, or others who will not cooperate with them, but will not happen. If I receive a complaint, a clear message from the North City Corporation of Dhaka, we will deprive them of all kinds of city services and if there is dirt in that house, no staff or personnel from the corporation of my city will go to that house to pick it up. I will immediately request the Dhaka Electricity Department, DESCO, WASA, to shut off the water lines and power lines of those houses. This is how to deal with those who are in the profession of humanity, who are doing the best service to our patients. What kind of humanity is that?
Thanking those involved in the emergency services at this critical moment in the country, Mayor Atik said: “In addition to the doctors, the brother police officers are also providing services. Members of the army, RAB and other law enforcement agencies are serving in the field. I would like to ask the rich to help and cooperate like you. Many families cannot even open their mouths. ‘
The Mayor said: Corona Honestly, Corona has this kind of problem but we have never solved it. I didn’t see it, neither did my grandparents. We are in mortal threat. Dhaka North City Corporation has launched a hotline. If any doctor or nurse has any type of problem while providing services, complain through the hotline of our Dhaka North City Corporation. Dhaka North City Corporation is by your side. We will be by your side. If you have a problem, you can report it to us on our hotline or you can also report your problem to my mobile phone. We will do our best to be by your side.
Mayor Atiqul requested the North City Corporation to report any problems at the Dhaka North City Corporation government hospitals to the authorities.
The mayor said: ‘We have the Kurmitola Hospital, we have the Kuwait Friendship Hospital. At first there was mismanagement. But now it’s better. Kurmitola Hospital has a director who has the rank of Brigadier. A brigadier has also been handed over to the Kuwait Friendship Hospital. The health officer of our city corporation also spoke to him. If there is a problem, please notify our City Corporation. Kurmitola Hospital said they did not have a spraying machine. I immediately arranged the delivery of the machine. I spoke to the Kuwait Friendship Hospital. If there is any problem please let us know. Of course, we will do our best to support your city corporation.
Mayor Atiqul Islam said door-to-door relief was being provided: “I gave 500 packages in each neighborhood on behalf of the North City Corporation,” he said. Later we obtained 3 lakh kg of rice from the government. I have received relief of 20 lakh rupees. The house-to-house aid delivery process has begun through various counselors. Then the relief we receive will be given to the inhabitants of the slums. The Prime Minister has ordered the introduction of the card system. We have instructed our councils to establish a city corporation hotline, especially for those who do not come for help, to call and help their homes. ‘
Fear of dengue
Mayor Atiqul said he was aware of the dengue outbreak. “We are seeing the effects of dengue and corona in Singapore,” he said. The impact of dengue has started in the countries where it was last affected. Aedes mosquito eggs can survive up to three years. After the water arrives, mosquitoes form from there again. I am doing my best on behalf of the City Corporation. We know that dengue mosquitoes are born in clean water, not in any drain. I am destroying the mosquitoes’ birthplace through special arrangements. Everyone must show up together. Discard the water once every three days.
Garment workers salary.
Mayor Atiqul said: I also have a garment industry. I was also president of BGMEA. But the owners are in a dilemma, that is the reality. Buyers are likely to call everyone who looks appropriate, if there are only a few. But we are not in good condition. But we have to pay. The Prime Minister has awarded Rs.5 billion to export-oriented industries. Thanks to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister loves the garment industry. To whom we will sell Malta, but close in all countries. But no one is buying clothes. It has affected the factory, it has affected the workers. ‘
Regarding the payment of wages, Mayor Atik said: “Everyone’s wages will be paid today (April 16). I will ask the workers not to leave the house until further notice, without contacting the owners. Arrangements are being made to pay workers online. I’ll ask to pay the March salary. Big clothes have paid, some small businesses haven’t. “
Lack of ventilation
Coroner’s Treatment There is a lack of ventilation in the country, said Mayor Atiq, “I don’t know if I need ventilation. The Ministry of Health and the Department of Health are relentlessly trying to import ventilation. But there is a lack of ventilation worldwide now . If any company in our country can do ventilation, some companies are trying to do it, thank them. I will tell the wealthy to come to import ventilation. We are also talking with China about how ventilation can be imported privately. Hope the Rich people show up as the government will ensure that no patient dies from lack of ventilation. ”
The hospital must be kept open.
Mayor Atiqul Islam has requested to keep all Dhaka North City Corporation hospitals open. “The prime minister has repeatedly asked those who have hospitals not to close them,” he said. As if the service were provided. Government licensed but for service. If the hospital does not endorse the patient out of fear of the crown at this time, it will create fear in everyone. I will request all hospital owners not to close the hospital. All hospitals must be kept open. Not only the coronavirus, there are many other diseases in humans. You serve during this epidemic. Of course this service but we will remember it. We are monitoring the city corporation. Those who return patients will also be treated in the same way. It will provide more services by keeping the hospital open. ‘
Disaster management is not enough.
Atiqul Islam, the mayor of the city, said that the existing disaster management of the city corporation is not enough. “The coronavirus has made the world think,” he said. We have a C-forty platform. We have started the initiative to speak with 120 mayors of the world. I spoke to 40 mayors. We have started to discuss what steps the different mayors are taking. This discussion will continue. The various initiatives of different mayors are being discussed. Discussions have been held with the mayors of California, Singapore, Italy and Spain. We are exchanging information. We have to move towards disaster management. The existing disaster management system is not enough at all. ‘
