Why did you finish your career so early? Former Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal gave an elegant argument
Saeed Ajmal’s career is only seven years. His bowling was banned by the ICC on charges of illegal action. Even after returning from there, Ajmal was not as sharp as before.
The spinner, who was one of the most effective spinners in the world at the same time, did not want to be hit by hitters for a long time with his harmless bowling action. Then Saeed Ajmal quickly withdrew. After so many days, Ajmal was angry with the ICC for this. Ajmal used ‘Dusra’ in a great way.
The former off-spinner blamed the ICC for ending his career at Abela. His participation in bowling was banned by the ICC in 2014 just because he was Pakistani, according to Ajmal. The former star also hinted that he could have prolonged his career in another country. The ICC knew that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) could do nothing against the decision, Ajmal said.
In an interview for India Today, Ajmal said: “The exams of 2009 and 2014 were the same. Only a few medical rules were changed in 2009. After Muttiah Muralitharan left, the ICC saw that this man (Ajmal) was now there and his country was Pakistan. There is nothing they can do against our decision.
Ajmal has taken 17 wickets in 35 tests for Pakistan. He took 174 wickets at 113 ODI. Ajmal’s action was questioned in his Test debut in 2009. The 42-year-old ex was approved by the ICC after being corrected. Although it was banned a second time, it was not as effective as before due to some changes in the action. Later he did not want to drag his career like that. Ajmal retired from all forms of cricket in 2016.
