President Abdul Hamid rejected Captain Abdul Majed’s request for the death penalty, who was sentenced to death in the family murder case of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Sources said Abdul Majed’s death request was reached in the president’s office on Wednesday night. The president then rejected the request.

District and session judge Helal Chowdhury issued the death sentence on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the court order, the prison authorities appeared in court around 1:30 p.m. from yesterday. State prosecutors then requested a death warrant against the defendant, showing the defendant’s arrest. After the hearing, the court granted the request to arrest Abdul Majed, the accused, to death.
State prosecutor Mosarraf Hossain Kajal said that prison authorities would take the death sentence within 20-20 days after the death order was sent to prison. The accused will be notified of his execution, as well as the deputy commissioner.
