About 14 million elementary school students received the good news of the coronavirus outbreak. This is the first time that students earn money to buy school uniforms, shoes, and bags with the stipend for the past six months. In total, a student earns 1,600 rupees. On Tuesday, the Department of Primary Education ordered the release of the money. Money will come to parents’ phones through mobile banking before Eid.
Provision of stipends for the director of primary education (third phase). Yusuf Ali said Upazila Education Officials have been ordered to upload the list of beneficiaries to Rupali Bank’s Sure Cash portal for disbursement of the third and fourth installments of the stipend before May 14.
According to the department’s order, the government wants to send the stipend money to the beneficiaries’ mobiles before Eid-ul-Fitr. Action will be taken against the Upazila education officer in question if he does not upload the list of stipend recipients to Rupali Bank’s Sure Cash portal by May 14.
In a letter sent to the project director from the department, it was said that according to the Prime Minister’s promise along with the stipend, an allocation of Rs 1,000 would be awarded to students to buy school uniforms, shoes and bags under the project.
Three months are known to be paid together on each installment. This time 600 rupees are paid together for the third and fourth installment of the 2019-2020 fiscal year due to six months of delay. However, as the project expired last December, elementary students across the country have been deprived of stipends since last October. The project could not be extended since there was no ECNEC meeting in Corona. However, due to the tireless efforts of the Prime Minister, the term of this project has been extended until next June and it is also possible to release the money in Corona.
There are around 14 million students in 6,720 government primary schools in the country. All receive stipends given by the government. Each student receives a stipend of Rs 100 per month.
Furthermore, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the Father of the Nation, Mujibvarsha, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced that it would pay 500 rupees per student for the purchase of new school uniforms, bags and shoes. The announcement was made last January. Students have not received this money until now. Now it is increased to 1,000 rupees and the money is released.
