Bangladesh Bank has set a new schedule for bank transactions. Starting May 10, commercial bank customers will be able to transact from 10 a.m. at 2.30 p.m.
However, the bank will be open for the rest of the work outside the transaction until 3:30 pm.
Bangladesh Bank issued a notice about it on Tuesday. He said that the government had decided to extend the general holiday in view of the benefits of holy Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr and trade and commerce.
It should be noted that the government has extended the general vacation period to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but has decided to open stores on a limited basis as of May 10. In a circular on Monday, it was said that Bangladesh Bank will decide to keep the bank open.
So today Bangladesh Bank issued a notification. The transaction is said to take place at the bank by 10 a.m. at 2.30 p.m. However, there will be a 1:15 p.m. prayer break. at 1:30 p.m.
Bangladesh Bank says banks with online facilities must have at least one branch in each upazila metropolitan area. The bank will decide to keep more than one branch open. For those without online service, all of their branches should be kept open every business day.
Considering the important location at the district headquarters, at least one branch of the bank should be kept open. All AD branches (where transactions are carried out abroad) must be kept open at the metropolitan and divisional levels. However, in other parts of the country, AD branches selected at their own discretion must be kept open.
Bangladesh Bank also said that all scheduled banks located in the country’s commercial areas, Motijheel and Dilkusha in the capital and Khatunganj and Agrabad in Chittagong, should be kept open. All branches of all banks should be kept open in labor intensive industrial areas.
In addition to this, in order to keep banks open in the maritime, land and airport areas, steps must be taken in consultation with the local administration and port authorities. Arrangements should be made to keep a branch open in consultation with management in the closing area.
The circular will ensure an adequate supply of notes at ATMs and the necessary arrangements for transactions 24 hours a day to keep card transactions open.
In addition to this, it has been mentioned in the Bank of Bangladesh circular that the instructions to maintain the prescribed distance (according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization) must be guaranteed in the branches and central offices open for banking transactions.
