Barguna police arrested a young man named Sajib accused of raping the wife of an expat in Barguna. Sajib is the son of Harun Miah from the Bawalkar village in the Badarkhali union of Barguna Sadar upazila.
The victim was sent to the Barguna Generator Hospital for a medical report on Tuesday morning.
According to local sources, an expatriate from a village in the same union broke into his wife’s house around 2 p.m. Monday and raped her. Locals arrested the accused Sajib and filed a complaint at the police station. Later, the police came and arrested the accused rapist Sajib.
The wife of the rape victim said Sajib used to harass her on the phone. That day my son and daughter went to different houses. When the house was empty, he came in, grabbed me by the face and raped me. When I called, the neighbors stopped him and reported it to the police. I am a mother of two, my husband lives abroad, I want a fair trial of this incident.
Badarkhali UP President Sharif Ilyas Ahmed Swapan told reporters that whoever the rapist is must be brought to justice.
The officer in charge of the Barguna Sadar (OC) police station, Abir Mohammad Hossain, said: “I received the news of the incident and immediately sent the police to the scene and arrested a man named Sajib.” After verifying the incident, a rape case was registered in Sajib’s name and the victim was sent to Barguna Generator Hospital for a medical report.
