Voice of Time, Dhaka: Legal notices have been sent to interested persons, including two mayors of the Dhaka City Corporation, to take the necessary steps to eradicate mosquitoes and prevent dengue and chikungunya. Dhaka Sutrapur resident and lawyer Fahima Ferdous sent the notice in the public interest.

The notice was sent to the secretary of the local government ministry, the mayor (North and South Dhaka) and the DG of the health department in an email on Tuesday (May 5) in the morning. Fahima Ferdous herself confirmed the matter to the media.

Data subjects have been asked to take the necessary steps to eradicate mosquitoes within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Otherwise, measures will be taken against them in accordance with the customary law of the country.

According to the notice, coronavirus is currently the most feared problem in the world, including Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi government is taking all possible measures to prevent it. But the dengue virus is also dangerous. Some 70 people died last year from the virus. 5,600 people have been infected. However, the mayor of Dhaka South and North City Corporation has not taken the necessary steps to eradicate mosquitoes, despite the high incidence of mosquito infestation.

The notice said that, on the one hand, city dwellers were terrified of Corona and, on the other hand, they were lost due to mosquito infestation. If people are infected with the dengue corona virus, there will be nowhere to go. Articles 15 (a), 16 (1) and 32 of the Constitution mention medical care. Among them, according to Article 32, medical care is a fundamental human right that the state has the responsibility to guarantee.
