BCL leader Arif Sarkar, who was fined, has provided food aid to low-income people in Sakhipur, Tangail. He was accused of irregularities in the distribution of rice in the friendly food program.
Arif Sarkar has provided help to 200 helpless families in various villages in his union. He claimed that he had given five kilograms of rice, one kilogram of potatoes, one kilogram of onion and one handwashing soap to each person on Saturday.
Arif, former president of the Sakhipur Upazila Chhatra League, was a distributor (distributor) selling rice at a price of Tk 10 per kg in the Kankrajan Union of upazila. On April 13, a mobile court fined him 1.5 lakh Tk for paying for the rice.
The mobile dealer canceled the Arif dealer along with the fine. At the time, there was a storm of criticism of Arif on social media. After 20 days, he is distributing food aid, including rice, to low-income and unemployed people. When the news spread, the criticism started again.
In this regard, Arif said, there are groups in the Sakhipur Upazila Awami League. He formed a group that was against those in power. They do not want anyone outside the ruling party to be a trafficker. “The conspiracy was hatched to politically humiliate me and deliberately cancel the dealership,” he said.
Arif added that there was no problem of stealing rice here. But even then, social media has spread the word on Facebook that it is theft. ”
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed party leaders and workers to back the people in this moment of calamity. Former Sakhipur League president Upazila Chhatra also said he was trying to be as close to the people as he could.
On condition of anonymity, a front-line leader of the Upazila Awami League said there was a conspiracy against Arif. The matter has become clear to people to distribute the rice.
