Dhaka Sadar Court Inspector Mezbah Uddin Ahmed told Prothom Alo that there is no separate arrangement for bringing and taking the arrested children. So the boy was first sent to Kashimpur jail in a prison van with the accused elders. The Kashimpur prison authorities sent the boy to a youth development center.
Keraniganj police submitted a report to the court stating that the boy was 12 years old. The case shows that the age of the child is 14 years. However, according to the birth certificate, the boy was born on September 3, 2010. That means his current age is 10 years and 2 months.
In this regard, the Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Keraniganj Model Police Station, Kazi Mainul Islam, told Prothom Alo that a case had been registered against the police station for raping a six-year-old girl. The boy was arrested after the case.
Regarding the mention of the age of the 12-year-old boy in the document sent to the court, OC Kazi Mainul Islam said that they did not collect the birth certificate to determine the child’s age. However, the child’s birth certificate will be collected.
The investigating officer on the case, Keraniganj Model Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Tamima Akhter, told Prothom Alo that a DNA test would be performed if necessary to determine the child’s age. You will visit the place in a day or two. It will collect all the information.
