The agreement with Russia was finalized during the annual conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Moscow. Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited Russia to finalize the deal.

According to Russia’s Sputnik News, the Indian Army needs 760,000 rifles. These rifles will be jointly manufactured in India by Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt. Ltd. (IRRPL). The Ordinance was signed between the Factory Board and Kalasnikov Concern and Rosoboronexport.
The Artillery Factory Board of India will have a 50 percent stake in it. Russia’s Kalasnikov has a 42 percent stake and the state export agency Rosoboronexport has a 7.5 percent stake.
