In Gopalpur upazila de Tangail, a university student was arrested and gang-raped overnight. So far, the police have not arrested anyone in the incident.
The college student was admitted to Tangail General Hospital in critical condition at noon on Tuesday (October 20). The emergency department doctor said there were indications of injuries in different parts of the body of the university student admitted to the hospital.
The victim, a college student, said she was returning home from the local market in the Nuturchar area of upazila on Monday night (October 19). Saiful, Enamul, Khaled, Jalal and Altaf from Kagujiata village blocked his way when he reached the bridge in the Purba Mohanpur-Nuturchar area of Mirzapur Union.
With that, he grabbed her by the face, lifted her into a nearby boat, and headed for the abandoned house on Char. Saiful, Enamul, Khaled, Jalal and Altaf raped her in turn. They left the university student on the riverbank in the morning.
The sick student returned home and informed the family. Later, his relatives admitted him to the Tangail General Hospital. The university student has demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.

Mosharraf Hossain, police officer in charge of Gopalpur, said: “I have received allegations of gang rape from a university student.” Legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
