Ignoring the closure, five of the six patients who attended the ambulance were infected with the coronavirus. They arrived at the Kalaiya union in Baufal upazila in Patuakhali from Narayanganj last Monday.

Baufal Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Prashant Kumar Saha confirmed the information on Friday. One of the victims was a man and the other four were women.

According to local sources, they arrived at the Sela Baufal Kalaiya Union in an ambulance from Narayanganj last Monday. In one stage, the passengers faced obstacles from the locals. Later, the president of Union Parishad (UP), SM Faisal Ahmed Monir Hossain Mollah, informed the upazila government about the matter. Subsequently, the police confiscated the ambulance, detained the six passengers and quarantined them in the Idris Mollah Degree College classroom in Upazila.

Upazila Nirbahi (UN) Officer Zakir Hossain said the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer was asked to provide necessary treatment to victims in isolation. He urged the residents of upazila not to panic, but to be vigilant.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Prashant Kumar Saha said: “I have spoken to those affected.” They are healthy The necessary treatment is being carried out keeping them in institutional isolation.
