Five Amicus Curiae have spoken out against the ban on the broadcast of Al Jazeera in Bangladesh and the acceptance of the judicial petition requesting an order to remove the report “All the Prime Minister’s Men” from Facebook and YouTube. Five of the six amicus curiae gave their opinion during the appeal hearing in the Superior Court on Monday.
They are: former Attorney General AJ Mohammad Ali and Fida M Kamal, Chief Counsel Kamal Ul Alam, Prabir Niyogi and Dr. Shahdin Malik.
The petitioners have not given any legal notice to the government in this regard and have stated that the order petition is not admissible.
In support of this point of view, they presented legal and constitutional interpretations and decisions of national and foreign courts.
Another amicus curiae, Abdul Matin Khasru, did not elaborate on the admissibility of the writ petition.
He said that if the High Court believes that the documentary has attacked the Prime Minister and the army and the integrity and unity of the country, it can issue an order to the government if necessary.
After hearing the opinion of Amicus Curiae, Judge Md. Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice. The Kamrul Hossain Mollah High Court bench set Wednesday for a rehearing of the car petition.
