International flights from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman have been suspended due to the coronavirus, thus 42 flights from Bangladesh have been canceled in the next week. Passengers from other destinations are also concerned about the cancellation of flights to any other country. Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority said Bangladesh will not cancel flights to any other destination, including the UK.

Saudi Arabia and Oman have suspended all international flights in the UK over reports that the coronavirus has grown more powerful. It’s not just the Bangladeshi passengers traveling to those two countries that are in trouble. Passengers from other destinations are in a situation of extreme uncertainty.

Visiting Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday, passengers from other Arab countries were seen to be in an unknown panic when their flight is also canceled.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority, several flights will be canceled in the next week due to the sudden suspension of flights to Saudi Arabia and Oman. However, Bangladesh is not canceling flights to any new destinations on its own.

Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Muhibul Haque said: ‘We have not stopped operating flights with any country. Since we are not given access, our plane cannot go. That’s the thing. We are not closing the Middle East. Our plane can’t go because they were stopped. Similarly, many countries have cut their air connectivity to London, but Bangladesh has yet to comment on this. We are closely following the matter. And we will let you know in time what we are going to do.

However, strict rules are being followed to make it mandatory for foreign passengers to show Covid test results.

Vice Air Marshal Mofidur Rahman, president of the Civil Aviation Authority, said: “Some airlines were no longer tracking them properly. We have taken legal action against them. It has been completely closed for the past few days after economic disciplinary action was taken. We are hopeful that if we are all aware of our second outbreak, which is going to have an impact, we can ease and continue our aviation.

Meanwhile, passengers who arrived at the airport throughout Tuesday spent their time in extreme panic until the plane took off. Passengers arrive at the airport well before the scheduled departure time.
