Narsingdi: Five people, including three sisters, came out to make the first day of the new year a bit memorable. On Friday (January 1) morning, they took a private car from Dhaka to Bhairab upazila from Kishoreganj district.

The accident took place around 5 pm on the Dhaka-Sylhet road in the Jangugua area of ​​the Narayanpur union in Belabo upazila when a private car collided head-on with a private car.

The deceased have been identified as Khairun Nahar (35), Kamna (24) and Tisha (22), three daughters of the late Benu Mia from the village of Chalna in Palash upazila of the Narsingdi district. Another woman named Begum was seriously injured.

Bhairab Highway Police (SI) Deputy Inspector Delwar Hossain said four passengers in the private car were killed in the incident. The private car was twisted in the collision. The bodies were subsequently recovered from the crashed private car and one person was injured in the incident.

Police and locals said a total of five people, including the driver, were in the private car involved in the accident. They went from Dhaka to visit Bhairab. He was returning to Dhaka in the afternoon. On the way, a private bus coming from the opposite direction collided with a Sylhet-bound bus named Al Mubarak Paribahan while crossing the Jangugua area of ​​the road. When the bus passed another bus at high speed, it collided head-on with the private car. Later, the police from the Bhairab Highway Police went to the scene, cut off the private car and rescued the victims.

Kajal Mia, an eyewitness to the incident, said she heard a loud noise and saw a private car getting on a bus. The bus pushed the private car down and took a long way. Later I went on and saw that all four had died. An injured person was rescued and sent to hospital.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Bhairab Highway Police Station, Mamunur Rahman, said the bodies of four people were recovered and brought to the Highway Police Station after receiving information about the accident. Runa Begum, seriously injured, has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
