Shahinur’s own brother, Raihanul, has been arrested in connection with the murder of four people, including a husband, a wife and their two children, in the village of Khalisa in the Helatla junction of Kalaroa upazila in Satkhira.
He was presented in court on Friday afternoon and was held in pretrial detention for 10 days.
CID inspector Tariqul Islam, who is investigating the case, said that Raihanul, brother of the late Shahinur, had been arrested and presented in court and held in pre-trial detention for 10 days. However, the court has not yet set the date for the preventive hearing.
Hatchery businessman Shahinur Rahman, son of Shahajan Doctor from Khalsi village in Kalaroa upazila, his wife Sabina Khatun, their 9-year-old son Siam and their 8-year-old daughter Tasnim were beaten to death by villains on Wednesday night. The police recovered the body after receiving the news.
Shahinaur Rahman’s mother-in-law, Moyna Khatun, 55, wife of Rashed Gazi from Ofapur village in Kalaroa upazila, presented the case Thursday night. Unidentified persons have been charged in the case. Satkhira CID has been assigned to investigate the case.
After the autopsy of the body on Thursday night, the burial of the four deceased was completed in the Brajabaksa village of Kalaroar, the home of Shahinur’s grandfather.
Meanwhile, Satkhira’s Deputy Commissioner, HM Mostafa Kamal, has taken care of Maria Sultana, a four-month-old baby who survived the hellish murders.
