RAB-11 arrested four people in connection with the snatching of the wrist of an NGO worker named Shanta Akhter (31) at noon in the city of Narsingdi. A RAB-11 team raided the area of Narsingdi’s Madhabadi bus stop on the Dhaka-Sylhet road on Wednesday night and arrested them. Today, at noon on Thursday, the captain of the RAB-11, Lieutenant. RAB says that two of the four arrested are directly involved in the incident, the other two are his accomplices. These four are Md. Rubel Mia (26), Abdul Badsha Mia (22), Mahabuba Akhter Marina (22) and Mithi Begum (26). During the operation, 1 lakh 91,500 rupees seized from the custody of accomplices was recovered. Additionally, CCTV footage showed a ruble-clad vest, the king’s cap and the victim’s mobile phone.
The robbery took place in front of the Narsingdi Government Women’s College in the western Kandapara area of the city at around 1:30 pm on Tuesday. Ismail Hossain Sikder, manager of the Ashar Bajirmor branch of a private development agency, filed a case with the Narsingdi Model Police Station charging two unidentified people.
